INDUSTRY HILLS, Calif. – The Macalester College men's golf team faced Occidental College as a part of this year's spring trip to California. The Scots shot a team score of 342 compared to 325 for the Tigers at Pacific Palms Resort on Saturday.

First year Alex Johanson (Walla Walla, Wash./Walla Walla) led Macalester and placed second overall with a score of 76. First year Ethan Deutsch (Kyle, Texas/Lehman) was next in fifth with a score of 87, followed closely by sophomore Jim Smith (Shippensburg, Pa./Shippensburg) in sixth with an 88 and first year Karanja Karubiu (Nairobi, Kenya/United World College) in seventh with a score of 91.

Macalester returns to action on Apr. 13-14 at the Saint Mary's University Invitational, held at The Bridges Golf Course in Winona.
