ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College women's swimming and diving team hosted Carleton College in a dual meet Friday evening at Riley Pool. The Knights outscored the Scots, 155-88 in the team scoring.
Several Macalester swimmers came away with victories in the pool. First year
Grace Madigan (Middleton, Wis./Middleton) won both the 50-yard freestyle (25.72) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:29.38). Fellow first year
Frances Redpath (Helena, Mont./Helena) was victorious in the 100-yard butterfly in 1:00.09, while senior
Ana Thompson (Minnetonka, Minn./Orono) won the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:19.44. Thompson also placed second in the 100-yard backstroke.
Also swimming well was first year
Paige Stevenson (Raleigh, N.C./Saint Mary's), who finished in second place in both the 100- and 200-yard freestyle.
In the diving events, senior
Francesca Gillis (River Forest, Ill./Trinity) was second on both the 1-meter and 3-meter boards.
The Scots will participate in the 14th annual Ted Mullin Hour of Power on Nov. 12 to raise funds for cancer research. The next competition for Macalester is on Saturday, Nov. 16, when the Scots host Saint Mary's University and Gustavus in a tri-meet at Riley Pool.
