ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College softball team was swept by the St. Olaf Oles today, losing 4-3 and 5-1 at home.

In the first game, St. Olaf took a 2-0 lead in the first which the Scots answered in the bottom of the inning. Sophomore
Julie Carpenter (Stensville, Mich./Lakeshore), who was three for four in the first game, hit a double to left field and then advanced on a wild pitch. With the bases loaded, first year
Kate Lawhead (Battle Ground, Wash./Prairie) was walked and Carpenter scored the Scots first run.

Down 2-1, the Scots continued to score in the bottom of the second as first year
Anya Lindell Paulson (St. Louis Park, Minn./St. Louis Park) got on second with a double to center field. Paulson advanced to third on a wild pitch and the Scots evened the game as Carpenter had one of her three hits, as single, to send Paulson home. Â

Carpenter continued to advance as she stole second base. Then senior
Morghan Bean (Muscatine, Iowa/Muscatine) doubled to left to make the score 3-2. This was Bean's thirteenth double of the year.

The Oles scored two more runs in the third and fifth respectively to end the game 4-3.

Against St. Olaf in the second game, the Oles were up 5-0 until the bottom of the sixth when with Gregorich on first and Bean on second, first year
Kennedy Kechely (Rochester, Minn./Mayo) hit a single to advance Bean who scored on a fielding error by the first baseman for the Oles. The Scots were stopped there and lost 5-1.

Audrey Meade (Cedar Hills, Utah/Pleasant Grove) pitched nine innings with four strikeouts. Junior Migacz pitched 6 Â innings total against the Oles and is third in the MIAC in strikeouts with 71.
The Scots return to action away against Carelton College on Tue., April 24 beginning at 3:30 p.m. in Northfield, Minn.
