MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The Macalester College softball team lost a doubleheader to Saint Catherine's University today 9-1 and 8-0.
In the first game, the Scots were down 5-0 in the first inning and it remained that way until the top of third. Junior
Sophie Migacz (McHenry, Ill./McHenry West) got on base as she hit a double. Migacz then advanced to third when sophomore
Julie Carpenter (Stensville, Mich./Lakeshore) grounded out to the pitcher. First year
Kennedy Kechely (Rochester, Minn./Mayo) had a ground out RBI to second base, bring her total runs batted in to 10 this year, to advance Migacz for the Scots only win of the game. The Wildcats then scored three runs in the fourth and one in the fifth to end the game 9-1.
The Scots were shutout in the second game against the Wildcats. Macalester's Carpenter added another hit to her season as she leads the Scots with 28 this season.
First year
Audrey Meade (Cedar Hills, Utah/Pleasant Grove) started her first game as a Scot, in the second game, pitching four innings with one strikeout.
The Scots return to action with a double header against the University of St. Thomas on Saturday, April 21 beginning at 1:00 p.m. in St. Paul, Minn.
