ROCHESTER, Minn. – The Macalester College softball team lost a doubleheader to Saint Mary's University today. The Scots are now 2-4 in the MIAC, as they lost 4-1 and 4-2.
Despite having five hits in the first three innings, the Scots scored the first run of the game in the top of the fourth inning. Junior
Claire O'Connor (Piedmont, Calif./Piedmont) hit a single to get on first and was subbed for pinch runner first year
Kate Bond (St. Paul, Minn./St. Paul Academy). Bond advanced to second base after a single by senior
Vivi Gregorich (Boulder, Colo./Boulder). Both runners advanced on a Macalester sacrifice bunt and Bond scored the Scots only run after first-year
Kennedy Kechely (Rochester, Minn./Mayo) hit a single. She now has 18 hits, second most for the Scots. The Cardinals then scored four runs in the bottom of the fourth and with the game going scoreless for the remainder, Saint Mary's won 4-1.
Saint Mary's took a 2-0 lead in the first inning of the second game and added two more runs in the bottom of the third. The Scots answered with two runs in the top of the sixth inning to make the score 4-2.
Senior
Morghan Bean (Muscatine, Iowa/Muscatine) helped advance senior
Katja McKiernan (St. Louis Park, Minn./St. Louis Park) to third base from first with a double. Mckiernan then scored when O'Connor, who now has 15 hits on the season, flied out to center field. The Scots second run came as Gregorich hit a double for the RBI, sending Bean to home plate. Macalester

Sophie Migacz (McHenry, Ill./McHenry West) pitched five innings in the first game with five strikeouts and three innings in the second game with another three strike outs. Migacz is now third in strikeouts in the MIAC. First year
Audrey Meade (Cedar Hills, Utah/Pleasant Grove) threw her first inning as a Scot with two strikeouts in the second game. Meade also is fourth in the MIAC in stolen bases with nine.
The Scots return to action with a double header against St. Catherine University on Saturday, April 14 beginning at 6:30 p.m. in Minneapolis, Minn.
