ROCHESTER, Minn. – The Macalester College softball team split the first day of the ACM Tournament at the Rochester Dome. Macalester beat Ripon College 4-1 in the first game and lost to Knox College 1-0 in the afternoon. The Scots are now 2-2 on the season.
In the first game, Ripon took the lead with a single in the first and they remained ahead until Macalester senior
Morghan Bean (Muscatine, Iowa/Muscatine) hit a double to center field allowing first year
Kennedy Kechely (Rochester, Minn./Mayo) to run for the Scots first run. Bean scored another run of off a hit from junior
Samantha Barkan (New York, N.Y./Friends Seminary). Barkan advanced to second base and ran to home after first year
Molly Hurley (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater) hit to right field.
The Scots finished the game of with a single by junior
Sophie Migacz (McHenry, Ill./McHenry West) of a center field hit from first year
Audrey Meade (Cedar Hills, Utah/Pleasant Grove).
In their loss against Knox, the Scots fell behind in the second inning 1-0 to the Prairie Fire. Despite the Scots having three hits in the game they were unable to comeback and beat Knox.
Junior pitcher
Sophie Migacz (McHenry, Ill./McHenry West) tossed 7 innings in the win against Ripon putting her to 2-1 on the season. Bean pitched 7 innings in the loss to Knox allowing three hits and one run.
The Scots continue day two at the ACM Tournament, held at the Rochester Dome Mar. 4. Macalester opens the day with a game against Grinnell College and then later against Beloit College.
