ST. PAUL, Minn.- The Macalester College women's basketball team lost to Bethel University 76-55. With one more regular season game the Scots are now 8-15.

The Scots started off the game with layup by senior guard
Vivi Gregorich (Boulder, Colo./Boulder) in the ninth minute. Macalester stayed relatively within reach of the Royals whose largest lead of the quarter came in the second minute with Bethel up 11 points, 21-10. However, with layups by first years
Katie Sowerby (Mill Valley, Calif./Tamalpais) and
Katherine Podoll (San Geronimo, Calif./Sir Francis Drake) the Scots closed the gap to 22-15. A three-pointer by the Royal's Jasmin Bretoi closed the quarter out with the Royals up 25-15.

In the second quarter the Scots were outscored 17-12. The Royals only put the Scots on the line once in the first half and were unable to stop the Royals who shot 51 percent from the paint. The Scots went into halftime down 42-27, with half of the team's offense generated by leading scorer senior center
Regan Fruh (Helena, Mont./ Helena) scoring six points. Fruh totaled 14 points on the night and three blocks.

Coming out of the halftime break, The Scots sophomore guard
Holly Hull (Overland Park, Kan./Blue Valley Northwest) put Macalester on the board with a layup in the seventh minute. Despite the Scots shooting zero percent behind the arc in the first half to 44 percent in the second, Macalester was outscored 22-12 going into the final quarter.

Macalester won the fourth quarter, outscoring the Royals 16-12. Sowerby ended the night with a three pointer to finish the game at a loss of 76-55. Senior guard
Leah Gray (San Rafael, Calif./Branson School) had two blocks, leaving her one short of tying the Macalester women's basketball all-time career block record.

The Rayals were led by Hannah Johnson with 19 points.
