Why did you choose to attend Macalester?
Macalester is the perfect fit for me because I value the close-knit community and the high quality academics. I am looking forward to the diversity, numerous academic and work opportunities, and new experiences to come, especially the snow!
What has your experience at Macalester meant to you so far?
I have had an amazing overall experience at Mac. I have grown as a person and broadened my horizons greatly since I have been a student here. It has been exciting to attend such a diverse school and learn so much in a short amount of time, and I appreciate how much each person is treated as a unique individual.
How has your experience as a student-athlete at Macalester helped shape you as an individual?
Similarly to many other athletes, I am much more well-rounded and also have accumulated a much better sense of time management. It is a challenge to balance school and athletics, especially as a two-sport athlete, but I have become more resilient and tenacious with putting my best effort forward in all areas of my life. I have also learned about how important building strong relationships with people is and have come to value and embody that more as I have grown up.
How has your experience as a student-athlete at Macalester prepared you for life after graduation?
Being a student athlete has allowed me to understand the importance of a community and support system integrated into what I am passionate about. I will take this with me into my career in medicine, and hope to surround myself with positive influences, those who are also willing to work hard to achieve goals. I also greatly value what I have learned about balancing different commitments both for school and outside commitments in research, jobs, sports, and classes. Macalester has taught me that I am capable of doing many things that I am passionate about as I have progressively learned more about my interests and what I want to pursue after graduation.
