ST. PAUL, Minn.- The Macalester College women's basketball team lost their final game of the season to Augsburg University, 77-75. The Scots will finish the year 8-17. Despite the loss the Scots had record breaking performances by two seniors.

In today's game, senior center
Regan Fruh (Helena, Mont./ Helena) scored a total career points of 1,282 and became the fourth leading scorer in Macalester women's basketball history. Senior guard
Leah Gray (San Rafael, Calif./Branson School) also became the career leader in blocks in Macalester women's basketball history with 136.

The Scots played another close game against the Auggies with it going down to the final seconds with Augsburg just pulling out the win. The Scots traded buckets with Augsburg the whole first quarter and went into the break just down one, 14-13. Senior
Regan Fruh (Helena, Mont./ Helena) put the Scots on the board first with a layup in the eight minute. Fruh went on to score 19 points and have eight rebounds.

Going into the second quarter the Scots continued to shoot well, especially from their first year bench. First year
Katherine Podoll (San Geronimo, Calif./Sir Francis Drake) scored a layup in the eight minute to bring the score to 17-15, to the Auggies. Seconds later first year
Justine Barraza (Burbank, Calif./ Harvard-Westlake) sunk a three-pointer, helping the Scots to shoot 33 percent behind the arc in the first half. Barraza finished the game with 10 points and a steal. The Scots went into half down 35-33, after senior guard
Grace Dickman (Maspeth, N.Y./Cate School (Calif.)) made a jumper with one second on the clock.

Coming out of halftime the Auggies and Macalester matched each other the whole third quarter, with each team scoring 20 points. As the Auggies had a lead of six, senior guard
Leah Gray (San Rafael, Calif./Branson School) cut it to four with a block in the sixth minute and then made the following layup. Gray had a total of six points and two blocks. Macalester went into the fourth quarter down 55-53.

In the fourth quarter, the Scots tied the score and then took the lead, 59-57, off of two layups by sophomore
Tyana Loiselle (Bloomer, Wis./Chippewa Falls) in the eight minute. Loiselle had a huge fourth quarter, scoring 11 of her 14 total points in the period.

With just under two minutes the score was tied at 74-74. After a foul by Fruh, the Auggies went up two after making both free throws. Sophomore guard
Holly Hull (Overland Park, Kan./Blue Valley Northwest) was fouled and went to line, to make one of two, making the score 76-75 to the Auggies. The Scots fouled the Auggies with 0.55 seconds left on the clock where they made one of two free throws. The Scots had a chance to take the lead but were unable to protect the ball, ending with a turnover and the loss 77-75.
