Why did you choose to attend Macalester?
I chose Mac because of the high level of academics, the caring and close-knit athletic community, and the gut feeling that I could relate and had similar passions to the students on campus, both athletes and non-athletes.
What has your experience at Macalester meant to you so far?
At Mac, I've engaged with students from diverse backgrounds who are all incredibly multidimensional and all have something to contribute both athletically and academically far beyond what you might expect at face value--smart, fun, hardworking, with unique and complex interests and ideas!
How has your experience as a student-athlete at Macalester helped shape you as an individual?
The supportive and hard-working academic atmosphere within the student-athlete community is contagious and makes everyone want to be their very best both in their sport but more importantly in their academic pursuits, careers, and as people. Athletes have been incredibly supportive of me in wanting to pursue my passions in all areas of life.
How has your experience as a student-athlete at Macalester prepared you for life after graduation?
Being a student-athlete at Mac has given me the opportunity to learn how to be a leader for a group of individuals both on and off the court. It has challenged me to get out of my comfort zone and to take initiative and hold people accountable. It has shown me what true dedication and hard work feels like, and taught me excellent time management. All of these things will greatly help me be a better human and more prepared for life after graduation.
