ST. PAUL, Minn.- The Macalester College women's basketball team lost to the University of St. Thomas away, 95-37. Losing their first game in the new year, the Scots are now 4-7.
Macalester was unable to find a lead in the game, starting of the first quarter with just 11 points to St. Thomas's 30. The Scots trailed by 39 at halftime. Sophomore guard
Holly Hull (Overland Park, Kan./ Blue Valley Northwest) had another consistent shooting game, leading the Scots with 11 points and shooting 83 percent from the field.
Unfortunately, Macalester was unable to stop the Tommies attack despite the rebounding efforts of first year forward
Katherine Podoll (San Geronimo, Calif./ Sir Francis Drake) and sophomore forward
Caitlyn Burmester (Columbia, Md./ Atholton) both tallying five rebounds. St. Thomas continued to outscore Macalester by double digits in the second half, winning 95-37.
The Tommies were led by Hannah Spaulding who scored 23 points on the night.
The Scots return to action home against Hamline University on Sat., Jan. 6 in St. Paul, Minn. at 3:00 p.m.
