ST. PAUL, Minn. – Macalester beat Knox College and lost to Linfield College in the last two games of the Macalester Volleyball Invitational. The Scots are now 3-6 on the season as they continue into non-conference play.
In their first match, Macalester lost the first set to Knox College 25-23 only to come back and win the remaining three sets, 25-19, 25-22 and 26-24. Â The Scots win was led by seniors
Clara Baumann (Wausau, Wis./Wausau East) with 21 Kills,
India Medaris (Napa, Calif/Justin Siena) with 19 kills and junior
Sofi Ascencio (Oakland, Calif/Holy Names) with 44 assists. Outside hitter Baumann also led the Scots in digs with 28. She was followed by
Abrielle Dillon (Brown Deer, Wis./University School of Milwaukee) and sophomore
Deborah Pickford (Denver, Colo/East) with 19 and 18 digs respectfully. Baumann and Dillon are now tied on the year for leaders in digs with 124 each.

In their second match, Macalester lost to Linfield College 3-1, losing the first set 25-21 only to come back and closely win the second set 29-27. Medaris led Macalester with 24 kills followed by Baumann who tallied 18 kills. Dillon added 13 digs to her season total led the Scots defense alongside Baumann and Pickford
. After the second set win, Macalester dropped the final two sets, 25-20 and 25-10 to the Wildcats.

Clara Baumann was named to the Macalaster Voleyball Invitational All-Tournament team. Over the four games played Baumann tallied 76 kills and 74 digs. The following players were also named to the All-Tournament team: Amara Meyer (University of Wisconsin-River Falls), Mackenzie Dahlin (University of Wisconsin-Superior), Kayla Magbaleta (Linfield College), Jeanette Peebles (Knox College), Mackenzie Pepper (St.Catherine University).

Next up for Macalester is a non-conference match against the Martin Luther College on Wednesday, Sept. 13, at 7:00 p.m. in New Ulm, Minn.
