MANKATO, Minn. – The Macalester College volleyball team lost tonight to Bethany Lutheran College in their second match up against the Vikings of the year. The Scots are now 2-3 on the season after their 3-1 loss tonight.
After losing the first two sets, 25-17 and 25-15, Macalester came back to closely win the third set 25-23. The Scots were led in the third set by senior outside hitter
India Medaris (Napa, Calif/Justin Siena) who tallied four kills in the set and led the Scots with 14 kills on the match and 11 digs. Junior middle hitter
Nicole Bennington (Shelton, Wash./Olympia) had eight kills. Macalester's offense helped by
Emily Bowler (South Salem, N.Y./John Jay) who tallied 29 assists and first year
Abrielle Dillon (Brown Deer, Wis./University School of Milwaukee) had 21 digs. Dillon now leads the Scots in digs with 65 on the season. After the close third set win, Macalester lost the final fourth set to the Vikings 25-17.
Next up for Macalester is a non-conference match against the University of Wisconsin-Superior on Friday, Sept. 8, beginning at 4:00 p.m. in St. Paul, Minn.
