ST. PAUL, Minn.- The Macalester College women's basketball team lost to the University of Wisconsin- La Crosse Eagles 70-55. The Scots are now 1-3 on the season.
In their fourth non-conference match the Scots hung in close with the Eagles but were unable to match their offense, losing by 15 points. In the first half, Macalester was down by as many as 13 points but came back with momentum in the second quarter to go into half behind seven points. However, La Crosse came out hard in the second half, scoring 18 points of off the bench, and Macalester was held to 23 points in the half.
Senior guard
Leah Gray (San Rafael, Calif./Branson School) had her best night of the season with 12 points and two blocks. The Macalester offense was a team effort on the night with senior center
Regan Fruh (Helena, Mont. / Helena) and sophomore guard
Holly Hull (Overland Park, Kan./Blue Valley Northwest) both scoring 9 points and tallying six and seven rebounds, respectively.
La Crosse was led by Ava Kramer who totaled 22 points and four steals on the night.
Macalester will return to action for their first MIAC play of the season on Saturday, Dec. 02 at home in St. Paul, Minn. at 3:00 p.m.
