NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Macalester College volleyball team dropped to Carleton College, a close 3-0 loss, in their fifth MIAC game of the season. The Scots are now 5-14. Â

In the first two sets the Scots lost to the Knights 25-16, 25-14. In the final set the Scots led early and swapped points with Carleton in a very tight battle. It seemed the Scots were on the way to a comeback until losing 26-24.  Senior outside hitters
Clara Baumann (Wausau, Wis./Wausau East) and
India Medaris (Napa, Calif./Justin Siena) led the Scots in kills with 12 and 8, respectively. Baumann and Medaris lead the Scots defense as well, each tallying double digit digs in the match. Junior setter
Sofi Ascencio (Oakland, Calif./Holy Names) created every assist for the Scots save one with 25 on the night.
Next up for Macalester is a conference home match against St. Catherine University on Oct. 7, beginning at 3:00 p.m. in St. Paul, Minn.
