ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College women's swimming and diving team faced St. Catherine University in a dual meet Friday night at the Butler Center Pool. The Scots fell to the Wildcats, 129-114 in the team scoring.
Macalester won both relays, with junior
Kaia Lund (Mondovi, Wis./Eau Claire Memorial), sophomore
Olivia Borgmann (Seattle, Wash./Garfield) and first years
Ana Thompson (Minnetonka, Minn./Orono) and
Cara Mullery (Palmetto Bay, Fla./Mast Academy) winning the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:58.53. Seniors
Smaranda Georgescu (Henderson, Nev./Green Valley) and
Hannah Bonestroo (Ames, Iowa/Ames) combines with first years
Miriam Eide (Rochester, Minn./Century) and
Ariel Roghair (Iowa City, Iowa/West) to take the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:46.21.
In the individual swimming events, Georgescu placed first in the 100-yard freestyle in 56.22, while Lund won her specialty, the 100-yard butterfly, in 1:00.86. Thompson swam her fastest time of the season in winning the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:03.15.
In diving, first year
Francesca Gillis (River Forest, Ill./Trinity) placed second in both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events.
