ST. PAUL, Minn. – Junior Jack Buan (Osseo, Minn./Wayzata) shot a 74 to tie for first, as the Macalester College men's golf team competed in the Mac-Mary Dual Thursday afternoon at Highland National to kick off the 2016-17 season. The Scots lost the dual, 304-327.

Next up for Macalester was senior Drew Gumlia (Tustin, Calif./Foothill) with a 4-over-par 76 to take sixth. Sophomore Sam Brancazio (Swarthmore, Pa./Strath Haven) (10th) and senior Josh Wingardner (Boxford, Mass./St. John's Preparatory) (11th) rounded out the top four for the Scots.

Macalester will participate in the Augsburg Fall Invitational Sept. 3-4 at Majestic Oaks Golf Course in Ham Lake, Minn.
