Softball: Macalester to host St. Mary's and celebrate Strike Out Heart Disease Wednesday

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The Macalester College softball team is set to host St. Mary's University in a Wednesday afternoon MIAC doubleheader slated for 4:30 and 6:30 p.m. The Student Athlete Advisory Committee will be hosting the 2nd annual Strike Out Heart Disease event at the games.

Macalester: 19-16 overall, 7-11 MIAC
St. Mary's: 14-16 overall, 8-10 MIAC

Strike Out Heart Disease
Wednesday, April 22 will mark the 2nd annual Strike Out Heart Disease event put on by the Macalester Student Athlete Advisory Committee. Heart Disease is the #1 killer in America and affects millions of people. Last year, the Scots raised a little over $600 and this year have set a new goal of raising $1,000. During the game, t-shirts will be for sale for $5, raffle tickets for $2 and ribbons for $1. All donations will go to the American Heart & Stroke Association. When They Last Met
The Scots last matched up with St. Mary's on April 28 of last season. In the doubleheader, the Cardinals took both games from Macalester winning 6-0 and 3-2. Abby Cox hit back-to-back RBI doubles in the game.

Macalester Stat Leaders
Senior shortstop, Saraswati Wilson is leading the way offensively for the Scots. Wilson holds a .402 batting average (8th highest in the MIAC) after collecting a team-high 51 hits (2nd highest in the MIAC). She also leads the team in home runs this season, having collected seven (tied for 2nd in the MIAC).

Abby Cox leads the way in runs batted in this season, totaling 25 (14th most in the MIAC).

Last Time Out
The Scots are coming off a Saturday sweep over Concordia Moorhead. The Scots held on to an early 4-0 lead to beat the Cobbers 4-3 in game one. In game two, Brittany Ehmann gave up just one hit, allowing the Scots to cruise to a 3-0 victory.

In game two, Ehmann pitched seven innings and gave up just one hit and struck out three to earn the win. Her record improved to 9-7 this year.

The Scots finished with four hits in the game led by Wilson who connected on two. Gunther and Semro each added one.
