WACONIA, Minn. -- Only one shot separated Macalester and Crown after each teams' top two scorers and it was sophomore Joshua Wingardner and first-year Blaze Beecher, who shot 76 and 77 respectively, that provided the Scots with the difference needed to post a 301-307 win at the Island View Golf Club.

Drew Gumlia fired a one-over par round for the second consecutive day, shooting a 73 on the 6,578-yard, par 72 layout to claim the top spot.

Thomas Messner shot a 74 for crown and Reed Sorenson a 75, which tied Dan Shi for third.

However, Wingardner and Beecher finished fifth and sixth while Jose Carlso Cueva shot 78 and Juan Marco Cueva shot an 80 to account for a five-stroke swing between the teams' third and fourth finishers.

James Meyerson placed ninth with an 82 and Jack Buan rounded out the Scots' scoring with an 87.

Macalester returns to action next Saturday and Sunday when the Scots take part in the Augsburg Invitational at Majestic Oaks Country Club in Ham Lake, Minn.
