Box Score 2 Macalester hosted Concordia-Moorhead Tuesday afternoon and came away with a doubleheader split. The Scots gained their first MIAC win of the season when taking game one 11-5. Concordia, however, travelled back to Moorhead with a split by taking the nightcap 7-1. Macalester is now 6-13 on the season and 1-6 in the MIAC, while the Cobbers are 9-8 overall, 1-3 in the MIAC.
In Macalester's game one victory, starting pitcher
Joseph Aulisi (Fy., McLean, Va. / Langley) threw the first five frames to pick up the win, while
Griffen Gallagher (So., Westport, Conn. / IMG Pendleton Academies) worked the final two innings out of the bullpen.
Concordia led 4-2 before Mac scored four times in the bottom of the third inning and four more times in the fourth to pull away.
Aidan Hennen went 2-for-4 with four RBI, and
Quentin Stuart went 2-for-3 with three runs scored and three runs batted in. Stuart contributed a pair of doubles.
Tom Forster (Jr., Stillwater, Minn.) also collected a couple hits.
Concordia took control of the nightcap by going up 3-0 in the third and 5-0 in the fifth, and on the game out-hit the Scots 12-7. Mac picked up solid pitching from
Dylan Edwards-Gaherty (Fy., New York, N.Y. / American Studies) and
Brendan O'Connor (Fy., Piedmont, Calif.). Edwards-Gaherty started and pitching five innings, and O'Connor allowed two runs in four innings of duty.
Phillip Stuhr (So, Onalaska, Wis.) went 2-for-4 and scored Mac's only run, and Hennan drove in the team's run in the fifth on a ground out.
The Scots are off until Saturday (April 12) when they journey to Northfield to take on St. Olaf.
