Box Score 2 Game 1 boxDefending MIAC champion St. Thomas won the first game of a doubleheader over the visiting Scots 15-5 Wednesday afternoon. Game two, scheduled for nine innings, was suspended by darkness with UST leading 4-1, and will be completed April 11 at UST.
In game two at UST's Koch Diamond, Macalester's
Quentin Stuart (Fy., Nashville, Ind. / Indiana Academy) was 4-for-4 with a solo homer, two doubles and three RBI.
Justin Kleschen (Jr., Evanston, Ill. / Evanston Township) and
Forest Redlin (Fy., Tempe, Ariz. / Tempe Prep Academy) pitched three solid innings each.
Five players had one hit apiece in game one, which Macalester scoring its first run on an first-inning RBI double by
Phillip Stuhr (So., Onalaska, Wis.).
Jonathan Melms (So., Wauwatosa, Wis. / Wisconsin Lutheran) had a couple RBIs and
Aidan Hennen (Fy., St. Paul, Minn. / Cretin-Derham Hall) drove in one.
Macalester led 5-1 going into the bottom of the third frame before the Tommies tied things up with four in the bottom of the third.
Following the completion of game two on April 11, the Scots are now 6-14 on the season, 1-7 in the MIAC. St. Thomas is 15-5 overall, 6-0 in MIAC play.
