One day after sweeping Gustavus, the Scots looked to keep their winning ways going in an MIAC doubleheader at St. Mary's.  The Cardinals, however, spoiled Macalester's momentum by taking both games, winning the opener 13-3 and claiming the nightcap 10-5.
 
In Saturday's first game, St. Mary's posted crooked numbers in each of the first three frames to go up 8-3.  SMU out-hit Macalester 13-7 and had three doubles and a triple.   Ross Brofenbrenner (Sr., San Anselmo, Calif. / Marin Academy) went 2-for-3 with a couple RBI for the Scots, while Justin Sims (Sr., Bronx, N.Y. / The Beacon School) also delivered a run-scoring hit.
 
Macalester was more productive offensively in the second game and matched SMU in the hit category 11-11.  Sam Berk (So., Miami, Fla. / Palmer Trinity School) went 3-for-3 with a run scored.  Aidan Hennen (Fy., St. Paul, Minn. / Cretin-Derham Hall) went 2-for-2 with two RBI and Jonathan Melms (So., Wauwatosa, Wis. / Wisconsin Lutheran) also had two hits off the bench.
 
The Scots Wisconsin-Superior Monday (April 21) for a non-conference twinbill at 3 p.m.  They return to MIAC play Tuesday (April 22) at home against St. John's at 2:30 p.m.
