Baseball: Oles take pair from Scots

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2
St. Olaf won the first game 4-3 in 10 innings and added a 4-1 victory in game two to gain an MIAC doubleheader over the Scots in Northfield on an overcast Saturday afternoon.  The Scots are now 6-16 overall and 1-9 in the MIAC.

The opening game could have gone either way.  Macalester led 3-0 after three frames before St. Olaf plated two runs in the fourth and another in the fifth to deadlock to score at 3-3, where it stood until the Oles gained the walkoff victory in the bottom of the 10th.

Joseph Aulisi (Fy., McLean, Va. / Langley) pitched 5 1/3 innings of relief duty for the Scots, yielding just four hits and a lone run while striking out four.  Leadoff batter Ross Bronfenbrenner (Sr., San Anselmo, Calif. / Marin Academy) was 3-for-5 at the plate with two runs scored, and Quentin Stuart had the team's lone RBI.

St. Olaf received standout pitching in the nightcap, holding the guests to six hits.  Mac's run was scored by Peter Bertel (Fy., Minneapolis, Minn. / Southwest) and driven in by Sam Berk (So., Miami, Fla. / Palmer Trinity School).

Macalester hosts North Central (Minn.) for a non-conference twinbill on Tuesday (April 15) at 3 p.m.  The MIAC campaign kicks up again Wednesday (April 16) at Gustavus Adolphus.
