Baseball: Scots return from Arizona with 4-6 record

Macalester played 10 games in Tucson, Arizona, over Spring Break last week and returned with a 4-6 record to start the campaign.  The Scots picked up wins over Crown 20-1, Spalding (Ky.) 9-5, Caroll (Wis.) 7-5 and Caltech 20-16.  Losses came to the hands of Marian (Wis.), Central (Ia.), UW-La Crosse 32-11, UW-Superior 16-3 and Wesleyan (Conn.) 9-0 and 13-11.  Mac batted .337 on the trip.

Tom Forster (Jr., Stillwater, Minn.) swung a big bat in Arizona to lead the Macalester attack.  Forster went 16-31 for a .516 batting average.  In addition to leading the team in hits, he was tops in runs batted in (13) and slugging percentage (.839).

Peter Bertel (Fy., Minneapolis, Minn. / Southwest) hit .478 on the trip (11-for-23), Ross Bronfenbrenner (Sr., San Anselmo, Calif. / Marin Academy) hit .406, while both Aidan Hennen (Fy., St. Paul, Minn. / Cretin-Derham Hall) and Quentin Stuart (Fy., Nashville, Ind. / Indiana Academy) batted an even .400.  Phillip Stuhr (So., Onalaska, Wis.) led the squad with 11 runs scored and batted .375.

In a couple starts on the mound, Chase Kahn (Sr., Cooper City, Fla. / American Heritage Plantation) posted a 3.09 ERA in 11 2/3 innings of work.
