Samson Bialostok rushed for three TDs and passed for another in Macalester's 34-17 win over Carroll.
Box Score ST. PAUL, Minn -- Samson Bialostock hit Victor Bordo with an 82-yard scoring pass on Macalester's first play from scrimmage and the Scots never looked back, taking a 34-17 win from 24th-ranked Carroll and sole possession of first place in the Midwest Conference's North Division.

Macalester ran for a season-best 302 yards while having an advantage in time of possession of nearly 10 minutes, which limited the Pioneers to 291 total yards of offense, 122 below their season average.

The Scots jumped out to a 17-0 lead over Carroll, adding a 23-yard Michael Abrmason field goal on their second possession of the game and a Bialostok two-yard run with 7:21 to play in the second quarter.

Lamont Williams, who rushed for 121 yards, got the visitors on the scoreboard with a one-yard run, capping a 10-play, 65-yard drive with 2:01 to play in the first half and, a Tyler Raymaker 22-yard field goal in the third quarter would send the game into the final 15 minutes holding onto a seven-point lead.

At the end of the third quarter, Bialostok began marching the Scots on a 13-play, 75-yard drive which ended 1:12 into the final quarter when he scored on a one-yard keeper, having rushed seven times for 40 yards on the dirve.

An onside kick by the home team kept the ball out of Carroll's hands momentarily but a blocked punt set the Pioneers up on the Macalester 20 and Williams would scored from 11 yards out with 9:59 to play in the game.

The Scots then responded with a 10-play, 65-yard drive which gave them a two-score lead when Abramson connected on a 29-yard field goal and then, with Carroll gasping its last breath of air and Macalester facing fourth-and-one from the Pioneers nine, Bialostok faked a handoff into the line and rolled out to the right side before walking into the end zone for the game's final score.

In all, the Scots' signal caller amassed 294 yards of offense, rushing 17 times for 122 yards while completing eight passes for 172 yards. Stowell had a career-high 34 carries, rushing for a game-high 176 yards against a defense ranked second, only behind Macalester, in the conference in rushing.

Defensively, Konnor Fleming's nine tackles led the way as did his two pass breakups. Glen Harford came up with several key stops, including a tackle and a pass breakup which forced the Pioneers to punt from deep in their own end of the field, which would lead to Macalester's final touchdown. Ryan Flanagan, who registered three tackles, two of which came behind the line of scrimmage, was also credited with three quarterback hurries.

With the win, Macalester sits top the North Division by itself with a 4-0 record heading into the final week of division play. Next weekend, the Scots are at St. Norbert, for a 1 p.m. game, Saturday. Should the Green Knights defeat Lawrence, tonight, they will be tied for second in the division with Carroll with a chance to create a three-way tie in the final standings.

The Scots can win the division outright with a victory and move onto the Midwest Championship game, Nov. 15, at the site of the South Division winner, with the winner of that game earning a spot in the NCAA Division III playoffs.
