Macalester allowed just two runs in each game, but had to settle for split against Carleton Sunday in Northfield. The Knights bounced back from an 8-2 setback in the opening game to win the nightcap 2-0 on a three-hitter.
The Scots, 18-17 overall, are 9-9 in MIAC play and still alive for a spot in the upcoming four-team conference playoffs. They are one of four teams at .500 and tied for the fourth and final post-season spot. One, or perhaps two of these teams, will get in: Macalester, Augsburg (9-9), St. Mary's (8-8) and Bethel (8-8). The Cobbers are 9-7 and also fighting for a playoff berth.

Robert Williams (Sr., West Covina, Calif. / Northview).
