Box Score 2 Macalester's home opener was a good one as the Scots won a pair of five-inning decisions over Martin Luther on a warm and sunny Saturday in St. Paul. The Scots won by 8-0 and 9-0 shutouts to improve to 9-5 on the season and surpassing last year's win total.
In addition to not allowing a run on a day, the Scots out-hit the Knights 29-4 and committed just error.
Macalester had 17 hits and scored in every frame in the opener, getting three hits apiece from
Allie Dautrich (So., Mansfield Center, Conn. / E.O. Smith) and
Erin Slater (Fy., Federal Way, Wash. / Decatur). Adding a couple hits each were
Cleo Nagy (So., Eugene, Ore. / Henry D. Sheldon),
Miranda Stokes (Fy., Perry, Utah / Box Elder) and
Hali Englert (Fy., Castle Rock, Colo. / Castle View).
In the 9-0 win, Macalester received three Englert hits and two RBI each from Nagy, Stokes, Englert and
Katie Fuller (So., Boulder, Colo.). Game two took just 55 minutes to compete.
Nagy belted her sixth home run of the season in the first inning to get the game off to a good start.
The Scots are back in action Tuesday (March 27) when they host Bethany Lutheran at 4 p.m.
