Scots beat Wisconsin-Stout 3-0

Georgia Cloepfil (Jr., Portland, Ore. / Lincoln), Bonnie Gale (So., Anchorage, Alaska / South Anchorage) and Margaret Nemetz (So., Ann Arbor, Mich. / Pioneer) each scored for the Scots, who toppled visiting Wisconsin-Stout 3-0 Saturday in St. Paul in the first-ever meeting between these two schools.  Playing its final non-conference match of the year, Macalester goes to 6-5-1 on the season, while UW-Stout drops to 4-6-2.

Cloepfil opened the scoring in the 38th minute with were team-leading ninth goal of the campaign, and the Scots led 1-0 at the break.  Ingrid Greene (So., Madison, Wis. / Memorial) assisted on Cloepfil's score.

Nemetz assisted with a long pass from midfield as Gale got past the Stout defense and converted on the break-away as Macalester went up 2-0 in the 74th minute.  Nemetz put things away from 15 yards out in the 84th minute.

Goalkeeper Ellen Palmquist (Jr., Fort Collins, Colo. / Poudre) worked the first half in net and Rosie Glenn-Finer (Sr., San Francisco, Calif. / Lick-Wilmerding) completed the shutout with a pair of second half saves.

Macalester is 2-3-1 in the MIAC and returns to league competition Tuesday (Oct. 9) at home against St. Thomas at 7:30 p.m.
