Scots finish weekend with split

Macalester vs. Wisconsin-Superior box scores: Game 1 | Game 2

Macalester wrapped up a four-game series over the weekend by splitting a twinbill Sunday with visiting Wisconsin-Superior, winning 8-2 before droping a close 5-4 game in the nightcap. The Scots went 3-1 with the Yellowjackets on the series and now stand at 11-9 on the season.

The Scots used eight different pitchers on the day, four in each game, as the plan was to spread out pitching duties. Offensively, it was a solid day, with Macalester collecting 11 hits in each game and batting .379 in the two games.

Mitch Glasser (Jr., Chicago, Ill. / The Latin School) went 4-for-4 in game one with two doubles and a home run, and nearly hit for the cycle, getting tossed out at third after a line drive off the deep left-center field fence after already getting a single, double and homer. The red-hot Glasser is now batting .429 on the season and has 17 hits in 30 at-bats (.567) over the team's past eight games.

Adding a couple hits each in game one were Garrett Salzman (Jr., Glendale, Calif. / St. Francis) and Colin Carpenter (Fy., Harvard, Ill.). Carpenter hit his first collegiate home run in the fifth inning to put the home team up 6-2.

Graham Brown (Jr., Annandale, Minn.) went 3-for-4 in game two with a pair of RBI, and Carpenter added another two-hit game.

Macalester returns to MIAC action Tuesday (April 12) when it plays host to St. Olaf at 2:30. St. Olaf leads the MIAC standings at 5-1 and the Scots are in second at 3-1.
