Back in action for the first time since the end of the Spring Break trip March 18 in Arizona, the Macalester bats were a bit rusty in a 12-1 and 2-1 doubleheader loss at Wisconsin-La Crosse. The Scots are now 5-7 on the season heading into the MIAC campaign.
Game two was a pitcher's dual, with UW-La Crosse scoring once in the first inning and Macalester tying the score with a run in the top of the fourth before UWL plated the game-winner in the bottom of the fourth. The Scots divided pitching duties among starter
Alex Ingram (Sr., Chicago, Ill. / Morgan Park Academy),
Elliott Yodh (Sr., Merion, Pa. / Lower Merion) and
Chase Kahn (Fy., Cooper City, Fla. / American Heritage Plantation), who combined for just one walk.
Garrett Salzman (Jr., Glendale, Calif. / St. Francis), who scored Mac's run in the opener, belted the team's first home run of the season to account for the team's fourth-inning run. Leadoff hitter
