The Scots hosted Wisconsin-Stevens Point in an NCAA Division III first-round match and came out on the short end of a 4-2 score Friday night at Macalester Stadium. Macalester winds up the campaign with an 11-6-2 mark, while No. 22-ranked UWSP goes to 17-2-1 going into tomorrow night's second-round tilt against Concordia-Moorhead at Macalester Stadium at 6 p.m.
Wisconsin-Stevens Point dominated the first half and had a 13-1 lead in shots over the first 45 minutes, leading 1-0 at the break on a goal in the 29th minute.
The Scots played much better in the second half but could not overcome a sudden scoring barrage early in the period. The Pointers extended the margin to two goals with a score at 57:04. Macalester then responded a minute later by getting on the board with a
Lauryn Gutierrez (Sr., Hickory, N.C. / St. Stephen's) tally at 57:52.
Maggie Molter (Fy., Cedarburg, Wis.) assisted on the goal. Gutierrez finishes the year as Mac's goal-scoring leader with eight.
Instead of giving the Scots a chance at building more momentum, Stevens Point went up 3-1 just over a minute later on an Angela Gallow goal. The score went to 4-1 in the 73rd minute when Vicki Bieschke scored her second goal of the game.

Matea Wasend (Jr., Denver, Colo. / George Washington).
In the first opening-round contest at Macalester Stadium, Concordia toppled Northwestern (Minn.) 2-0.
