Macalester hosted St. Benedict on a cold and windy night and after 110 minutes of play, walked away with a 0-0 draw against the Blazers in a match between a pair of teams battling to get into the four-team MIAC playoffs. The Scots are now 10-5-2 overall and 5-3-2 in the conference following their second straight tie, while CSB is 10-6-1 overall, 6-3-1 in league play.
The match was closely contested in the first half, but St. Ben's controlled play in the second half and in overtime, only to be denied the victory as Mac goalkeeper
Rosie Glenn-Finer (So., San Francisco, Calif. / Lick Wilmerding) kept the Scots alive. Glenn-Finer turned away eight shots on goal, all in the second half and overtime, to post her seventh shutout and lowering her goals against average to 0.51.
St. Ben's out-shot Mac 28-18 and had a 10-4 lead in corner kicks. The Scots had two shots on goal, both by
Emily Bardwell (Sr., Denver, Colo. / East).
Macalester can still make the MIAC playoffs if it closes out the regular season Saturday (Oct. 30) with a victory at Hamline and getting some help from Concordia (vs. St. Ben's) and St. Mary's (vs. St. Thomas).
