Macalester moved to 2-0 on the year, avenging a loss to the Saints last season in Duluth, by getting a pair of goals from Emily Bardwell (Jr., Denver, Colo. / East) to defeat St. Scholastica 3-0 on a warm Friday afternoon in St. Paul. Rose Betzler(Sr., Northfield, Minn.) also scored for Macalester and goalkeeper Tressa Versteeg (Jr., Pella, Ia.) posted her second shutout in as many starts in net.

Maddy Cochrane (Sr., Grand Marais, Minn. / Cook County) and Kat Lenhart (Fy., Fairview, N.C. / A.C. Reynolds) assisted on Bardwell's two scores.

The Scots out-shot the Saints 16-9 and shot six shots on goal. Bardwell fired three shots on goal and Betzler added two.

Mac snapped a 15-game road winning streak and 11-game regular-season streak for the Saints. CSS is the five-time defending champions of the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference.

It didn't take long for the Scots to take command of the match, scoring in the third minute of play. Ten minutes before the halftime break, Betzler netted her 17th career goal at Macalester to make it a two-goal margin. Bardwell iced the win early in the second half.

The Scots face a challenging task Monday (Sept. 6) when they host Wartburg at 3 p.m. This is the second game of a men's / women's doubleheader with the Knights. Wartburg is the defending Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference champs and earlier this week toppled MIAC stronghold Carleton. Wartburg plays defending MIAC champion St. Thomas tomorrow before playing the Scots.
