Macalester extended its winning streak to seven by defeating Grinnell (Ia.) 2-0 in an NCAA Division III first-round playoff match Saturday night at Loras College in Dubuque, Ia. The Scots improve to 13-7-1 and will play national power Loras tomorrow at 6 p.m. in a second round match. No. 7-ranked Loras (19-2-1) is going for its third straight Final Four appearance and the Scots are looking to play the spoiler.

Carson Gorecki (Sr., Mahtomedi, Minn.) put in his sixth goal of the season in the 41st minute to break the deadlock and put the match away with his seven score of the year in the 73rd minute on an assist from
Jesse Geary (So., Duluth, Minn. / Marshall).
Matt Weyer (So., Cedarburg, Wis.) turned away five shots on net from his goalkeeper position to give Macalester a win despite being out-shot on the night. This is Weyer's fifth shutouts in 10 starts. He also registered a shutout in Mac's MIAC semi-final win.
Gorecki now has 27 career goals, moving him into a tie for the No. 7 spot on the school's all-time scoring list.
