Macalester vs. St. Thomas statistics

Macalester faced a daunting task against No. 10-ranked St. Thomas Wednesday at Concordia University in St. Paul, and was swept 25-17, 25-19 and 25-16. The two-time defending MIAC champions, St. Thomas is now 27-0 in regular-season league matches over the last three years and on the season is 16-4 overall, 5-0 in the conference. Macalester falls to 6-10 on the season, 0-4 in the MIAC.

The Scots pulled within 20-16 in the first set, but Toms used a 5-1 surge to close out the set. Upset-minded Macalester was within 21-19 in set two, but the UST scored the final four points. In the third set, St. Thomas used a 6-0 run to build a 13-6 lead and the Scots never got closer than four thereafter.

Majra Mucic (Jr., Zenica, Bosnia / St. Louis Park – Minn.) spiked six kills and added seven digs for the Scots, while Danielle Dweck (So., Sea Cliff, N.Y. / North Shore) had 24 assists. Kiera Coulter (Jr., Davis, Calif.) led the back row effort with 20 digs.

Contributing five kills each were Taylor Tinkham (So., St. Louis Park, Minn.), Marie Godwin (Sr., Chaska, Minn.) and Erin Cusac (Sr., Pine River, Minn. / Pine River-Backus).

Kyley Crotty had 13 kills and 13 digs and Emily Foster had 36 assists to lead UST.

The Scots host Augsburg on “Dig Pink Night” Friday (Oct. 9) at 7 p.m.
