Macalester vs. St. Olaf statistics
Playing on its home field for the first time since Sept. 23, Macalester moved back into the MIAC playoff picture with a 3-1 victory over St. Olaf on a cool Saturday night in St. Paul.
Jake Rocke (Jr., Lincoln, Neb. / East) and
Eric Tettegah (Jr., Brooklyn Park, Minn. / Breck School) registered their first goals of the season and
Stephen Murphy-Logue (Jr., Anchorage, Ak. / West) also scored as the Scots improve to 7-7-1 overall and 4-3 in the MIAC. St. Olaf, the No. 2-ranked team in the NCAA Division III North Region, drops to 11-3-1 on the season and 5-3 in the conference.
Macalester played one of its best matches of the season, after going 2-4 during their stretch of six road tilts in a row, and out-shot St. Olaf 18-7 overall and 5-4 in shots on goal.
Rocke gave the home team a 1-0 lead just 1:29 into play off a double assist from
Carson Gorecki (Sr. Mahtomedi, Minn.) and
Jesse Geary (So., Duluth, Minn. / Marshall), blasting one past the keeper from the right side. St. Olaf equalized the match on a Jack Pueringer goal in the 34th minute.
Scott Petesch (Sr., Bethesda, Md. / Walter Johnson) assisted on Murphy-Logue's header in the 54th minute as Murphy-Logue tied for the team lead on goals with four.
Taylor Rasmussen (Fy., Eagan, Minn. / Eastview) sent a long pass for a nice breakaway goal by Tettegah in the 79th minute to put the finishing touches on the victory.
Matt Weyer (So., Cedarburg, Wis.) made three standout saves for the Scots in net on the evening.
The Scots are off until next Saturday (Oct. 24) when they host St. Thomas at 7:30 p.m.
