Macalester vs. Carleton statistics
Carleton used a balanced attack and hit at a .232 percentage to sweep the Scots 25-21, 25-14 and 25-16 in Northfield.
Macalester is now 6-12 on the season and 0-6 in conference play. After dropping matches to league powers St. Benedict and Concordia, the Knights return to their winning ways and improve to 13-7 overall, 3-4 in the MIAC.
The Scots served six aces, including a couple each by
Danielle Dweck (So., Sea Cliff, N.Y. / North Shore) and
Erin Cusac (Sr., Pine River, Minn. / Pine River-Backus). Dweck set 21 assists in the three sets.
Marie Godwin (Sr., Chaska, Minn.), who passed the 1,000-dig career mark last week, led the way in the back row with 10 digs.
Majra Mucic (Jr., Zenica, Bosnia / St. Louis Park – Minn.) led Mac with 11 kills, while Godwin added seven. Cusac had five kills.
Kiera Coulter (Jr., Davis, Calif.) produced nine digs and
Anna Trier (Fy., Sun Prairie, Wis.) had eight.
Kyla Walter and Jessa Youso spiked nine kills apiece to lead Carleton.
The first set was close all the way through, with the Knights pulling away from a 22-20 lead to get the match off to a good start.
The Scots face another challenging road test when they play at St. Benedict on Friday (Oct. 16). The Blazers knocked off St. Thomas tonight and are a top challenger for the league title.
