Macalester out-shot its guests by a 17-4 margin and went on to defeat Lawrence (Wis.) 2-0 on a warm Sunday afternoon in St. Paul. Lauryn Gutierrez (So., Hickory, N.C. / St. Stephen's) and Lucy Miner (Fy., Seattle, Wash. / Ballard) netted goals for the Scots, who move to 2-0 on the young season. The Vikings drop to 0-2.

This was the second Mac games at the Associated Colleges of the Midwest 50th Anniversary Classic – a series of 13 games played over Labor Day weekend in St. Paul and Northfield. The series involves teams from ACM members Macalester, St. Olaf, Carleton, Ripon, Lake Forest (Ill.), Lawrence (Wis.) and Colorado College (men).

Gutierrez got the Scots on the board with her third goal in two games at 18:43 on a Rose Betzler (Jr., Northfield, Minn.) assist. At 43:24 – just before the first half expired – Miner netted her second score in two games off an Emily Bardwell (So., Denver, Colo. / East) assist.

Mac released 17 shots, led by Betzler with four and Emily Hall (So., Seattle, Wash. / Ballard) with three, and had seven corner kick tries compared to none for LU.

The Scots are now 46-2-3 at Macalester Stadium since 2003.

Five of Mac's next six games are on the road, beginning with a tilt against St. Scholastica on Wednesday (Sept.3) in Duluth. Then it's the MIAC opener Sept. 9 at Carleton.
