Macalester kept off the scoreboard at St. Olaf

St. Olaf extended its winning streak to nine games and kept its hold on second place in the standings, pitching a pair of shutouts in a 10-0 and 9-0 sweep in Northfield. The MIAC's top-ranked pitching staff held the Scots to three hits in game one and four in the nightcap.

The Oles move up to 23-10 overall and 13-4 in the MIAC, while the Scots fall to 13-22 and 6-12 in the league. St. Olaf is within ½ game of first-place St. Thomas, but is two back in the loss column.

St. Olaf led the first game 3-0 after three frames and put things away with four runs in the fourth inning and three more in the fifth. In the nightcap, the Oles scored four first-inning runs and were never threatened.

Adam Kent (Sr., Madison, Wis. / West) had a hit and a walk in each game for the Scots. Kent is having a big senior season and is now batting .356 and while reaching base 17 times on walks and another 10 on hit-by-pitches. He tops the team with a .496 on-base percentage.

Mac's season ends Saturday (May 3) with a 1 p.m. doubleheader against Hamline at Midway Stadium. The Pipers will be looking to clinch a conference playoff bid while the Scots are looking to play the spoiler.
