Macalester vs. Hamline stats & play-by-play
Hamline scored the final eight points of regulation and out-scored Macalester 15-2 in the extra session to pull out a 90-77 decision over the Scots at the University of St. Thomas. The Scots led 75-67 with 2:27 left in regulation before the Pipers began their 8-0 rally to force OT, getting the game-tying basket on a Nick Hutchinson layup with :27 to go.
The Pipers close out at 8-17 overall and 6-14 in MIAC play. Macalester finishes at 6-19 overall and 4-16 in the MIAC. Hamline also defeated Macalester in overtime in January by a 101-94 tally.
Tom Conboy (Sr., Chanhassen, Minn. / Minnetonka) had 22 points and 12 rebounds to pace Macalester and finishes his career with 1,909 points and 836 boards – both tops on the school's all-time list. Conboy becomes just the 12th player in MIAC men's basketball history to score 1,900 points.
Brian Ranwick (Sr., Plymouth, Minn. / Minnetonka) went 5-for-11 on three-pointers and matched his career-best with 21 points. Ranwick also distributed a career-high six assists.
Jerry Kraus (So., Bucharest, Romania / Chaparral (Colo.)) had four assists, a block and a steal.
Conboy, who is 13th in the NCAA Division III in scoring, reached the 20-point mark for the 18th time this winter and 46th time in his career. He has reached double figures in scoring 97 times in 101 career starts, including the last 41 games in a row. This was his 14th double-double of the year and 37th in his career. Conboy becomes the third Macalester MIAC scoring champ over the last 10 years and also finishes the season as the league's rebounding leader.
Abe Woldeslassie (Sr., Richfield, Minn. / St. Thomas Academy) finished with 11 points, five rebounds and four assists. Woldeslassie has reached double figures in all but two games this season and winds up as the MIAC assist champ for the second year in a row, making a late run by averaging 6.3 assists over the team's final eight games. In two season's at Mac, the all-conference point guard has averaged 17.2 points and 5.4 assists per game, while shooting 48% from the floor, 40% from behind the arc, and 77% from the free throw line. He scored 858 points and dished out 270 assists in just two seasons.
Hamline received 18 points from Carl Hipp and Tanner Anderson, while Tony Thrasher added 16.
