Complete Macalester vs. St. Mary's results
Nathan Young (So., Denver, Colo. / Littleton) won three events, but St. Mary's turned in 10 first-place finishes to beat Macalester 127-91 in an MIAC dual meet at Riley Pool as the Scots are handed their first dual meet defeat after gaining victories earlier against Wisconsin-River Falls and Hamline.
Young, a national meet competitor as a frosh, placed first in the 200-yard individual medley (2:05.26), 100 freestyle (50.04) and 100 backstroke (57.91).
Paco Venneri (Fy., Los Alamos, N.M.),
Jeff Yamashita (So., Honolulu, Hi. / Iolani School) and
Jens Tamang (So., Portland, Ore. / Caitlin Gabel) each turned in a pair of runner-up efforts. Venneri placed second in the 1000 freestyle (12:28.27) and 500 free (5:53.89), Yamashita was second in the 50 free (22.85) and 100 butterfly (57.58). The Scots also received a second-place finish from
Emmett Costel (So., Maputo, Mozambique / Monona).
The Scots host the 12th annual Macalester Invitational tomorrow in a meet featuring opponents from St. Mary's, Hamline and St. Thomas.
