ST. PAUL, Minn. – Senior
Ingrid Norquist (Minneapolis, Minn./Anoka) was chosen the MIAC Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week for the week ending Sept. 6, the conference announced today. Norquist finished first at the Ole Opener, which served as the first race of the season for the Scots.
Norquist won the race by 30 seconds, covering the 5-kilometer course in 18:34.7 to outdistance the field of 84 runners. The result marked the first win as a Scot for Norquist, who was second in this race last year.
Last season Norquist took sixth at the MIAC Championships and finished ninth at the North Region Meet to earn both All-MIAC and All-Region honors. Her performance at the regional meet qualified her for the NCAA Championships, where she placed 81st.
Next up for Macalester is the Toni St. Pierre Invitational, hosted by Saint John's/Saint Benedict at River Oaks Golf Club in Cold Spring, Minn., on Sept. 18.
