Women’s Cross Country: Ingrid Norquist Wins MIAC Championship

| By:
NORTHFIELD, Minn. – Senior Ingrid Norquist (Minneapolis, Minn./Anoka) won the individual title as the Macalester College women's cross country team ran at the MIAC Championships Saturday morning at St. Olaf College. As a team the Scots finished third with 74 points, 11 behind second-place St. Olaf and 44 ahead of fourth-place St. Scholastica. The third-place finish is the best for Macalester since the 1999 squad took second.

Norquist turned in a dominating performance, winning by 36 seconds over runner-up Abigail Burns of Carleton with a time of 21:48.6. Norquist is the fourth Scot to win a MIAC women's cross country championship, joining Julia Kirtland '87 (1984, 1985, 1986), Koby Hagen '06 (2003) and Kimber Meyer '17 (2015). The win also is her third of the season in five races this fall.

Also earning All-MIAC honors was junior Kate Fox (Seattle, Wash./Roosevelt), who took eighth in 22:41.7. This was Fox's third top-10 finish and best performance of her career at the MIAC Championships after taking 10th in 2024 and ninth last year. The top 15 finishers are All-MIAC, while 16 through 25 receive All-MIAC honorable mention.

Receiving All-MIAC honorable mention was sophomore Aubrey Jensen (Floresville, Texas), who took 16th with a time of 23:17.9. First year Lucia Williams (Corvallis, Ore./Corvallis) also received All-MIAC honorable mention by taking 25th in 23:27.3, while senior Samantha Ellis (Intervale, N.H./Gould Academy) was right behind Williams in 26th (23:35.0). Also running well for Macalester were first year Lucy Taylor (Park City, Utah/Park City), who was 36th, junior Kyra Morris (Pacific Palisades, Calif./Palisades Charter), who took 40th, and senior Ivy Coldren (Frederick, Md./Urbana), who finished 41st.

Carleton won the team championship with five runners in the top nine, totaling 25 points.

Macalester will compete in the Cannon River Closer on Nov. 5 and the NCAA North Region meet on Saturday, Nov. 14, with both events being held at St. Olaf.
