ST. PAUL, Minn. – Macalester College senior pitcher Ben King (Chicago, Ill./Whitney M. Young Magnet) was chosen the MIAC Pitcher of the Week for the week ending April 12, the league announced today. King tossed a one-hit shutout in a 3-0 victory at Gustavus last Tuesday.

Pitching in the seven-inning first game of a MIAC doubleheader, King dominated the Gusties' batters. He had a perfect game through 5 1/3 innings and a no-hitter through six innings. In the seven-inning shutout, King fanned nine batters and walked one, facing 23 batters and throwing 88 pitches to lead the Scots to a 3-0 victory. The win broke a 10-game losing streak to Gustavus and helped the Scots sweep the Gusties for the first time since 2018.

So far this season, King is 2-1 with a 6.47 earned run average. He has 36 strikeouts, which ranks third in the MIAC, and 17 walks in 32 innings of work.

Macalester hosts the University of Northwestern in a non-conference game today at 4:00 p.m. at Nicholson Field.
