MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The Macalester College women's tennis team lost to St. Catherine University, 5-2 in a MIAC dual Friday night at Baseline Tennis Center. The Scots are now 6-6 overall and 1-3 in the conference, while the Wildcats improve to 12-4 on the season and 5-2 in the MIAC.
In doubles play, seniors
Savannah Haugen (Bemidji, Minn./Bemidji) and
Elizabeth Trevathan (St. Paul, Minn./St. Paul Academy) battled Faith Simon and Ashley King and brought home a 7-5 win in No. 1 doubles. St. Kate's won at second and third doubles to take the doubles point in the dual.
The doubles pair would continue their strong play in the singles matches. Haugen came through in No. 1 singles with a 6-4, 7-6 victory for the Scots' first point of the night. Trevathan brought the Scots their other point with a dominant 6-2, 6-1 win in the No. 2 singles spot.
Macalester will play again on Sunday, April 12 against Concordia College at Courts Plus in Fargo, N.D.
