ROCHESTER, Minn. – The Macalester College women's tennis team earned points at the top two singles positions and won the match at first doubles, but lost a non-conference dual to Luther College, 5-2 Saturday evening at Rochester Tennis Connection. The Scots are now 3-3 on the season, while the Norse improve to 10-2.
Seniors
Savannah Haugen (Bemidji, Minn./Bemidji) and
Elizabeth Trevathan (St. Paul, Minn./St. Paul Academy) won their match at No. 1 doubles over Allie Christensen and Abby Ostermann, 6-3, but Luther won the other two doubles matches to take the doubles point.
In singles play, Haugen beat Ostermann, 6-3, 6-3 at No. 1 singles, and Trevathan downed Christensen, 6-3, 6-3 at No. 2 doubles for the Scots' only points. The Norse won the remaining singles matches in straight sets to take the dual.
The Scots travel to Hilton Head, S.C. for their Spring Break trip. The Scots will play SUNY-Oneonta on Wednesday, March 18 at 3:30 p.m. Central.
