ST. PAUL, Minn. – Macalester College first year outfielder
John McMurray (Washington, D.C./Sidwell Friends) was selected the MIAC Baseball Player of the Week for the week ending March 1, the conference announced today. McMurray helped the Scots win two out of three against Mary Hardin-Baylor in Austin, Texas by batting .667.
McMurray started the weekend with a double and two runs in a 7-4 victory on Friday. In the first game of a doubleheader on Saturday, he went 4-for-5 with two run and four RBIs, as Macalester defeated the Crusaders, 14-10. Then in the second game, he belted his first collegiate home run and was 3-for-3 at the plate in a 17-7 loss.
So far this season, McMurray leads the Scots with 12 hits, seven runs, nine RBIs and a batting average of .444 through six games.
Macalester will play the University of Minnesota Morris in a doubleheader on Wednesday, March 4 at U.S. Bank Stadium, home of the Minnesota Vikings. The first game begins at 10:35 a.m.
