HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Macalester College women's tennis team outlasted Salve Regina, 4-3 in the final dual of its Spring Break trip Thursday evening. The Scots improve to 5-3 on the season, while the Seahawks fall to 2-6.
In doubles play, seniors
Savannah Haugen (Bemidji, Minn./Bemidji) and
Elizabeth Trevathan (St. Paul, Minn./St. Paul Academy) defeated Anna Grace Hjerpe and Kaydin Pinto, 6-2 at No. 1 doubles. First years
Darrian Streater (Redmond, Ore./Redmond Proficiency Academy) and
Isabella Tamburrino (Memphis, Tenn./St. Mary's Episcopal School) gave Macalester the doubles point with a 6-2 win over Madigan Murphy and Sadie Rieg at No. 2 doubles.
Haugen, Trevathan and Streater were victorious at first, second and fourth singles, respectively to earn enough points to clinch the victory for the Scots.
Macalester returns north to begin MIAC play on March 29 against Bethel. The dual starts at 3:30 p.m. at Baseline Tennis Center in Minneapolis.
