ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College women's tennis team played its first outdoor home dual of the season against MIAC foe Bethel University, losing 7-0 in the conference opener for both teams Sunday afternoon at Hayden Tennis Courts. The Scots are now 5-4 on the season, while the Royals remain unbeaten at 12-0.
In doubles play, Macalester came close to winning at No. 2 doubles, as first years
Darrian Streater (Redmond, Ore./Redmond Proficiency Academy) and
Isabella Tamburrino (Memphis, Tenn./St. Mary's Episcopal School) were edged by Claire Keller and Elzeda Walvatne, 7-6 (8-6). Bethel won the other two matches to take the doubles point.
In singles, the Royals won every match in straight sets, although Streater gave Elizabeth Langhus a tough battle at No. 4 singles before losing, 7-5, 6-4.
The Scots host Carleton College on Saturday, April 4 in another MIAC dual. The dual is scheduled to start at 11:00 a.m. at Hayden Tennis Courts.
