MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The Macalester College men's tennis team earned a 6-1 victory over the University of Northwestern in a non-conference dual Saturday night at Baseline Tennis Center. The Scots have won their past four duals to improve to 4-2 on the season, while the Eagles fall to 3-5.
Macalester took all three doubles matches to earn the doubles point. Senior
Jordan Doi (Mililani, Hawaii/Mililani) combined with first year
Charles Flaman (Calgary, Alberta/Rundle College) to beat Carson Haack and Sam Majerus, 6-3 at No. 1 doubles. Sophomore
Beckett Annes (Palo Alto, Calif./Palo Alto) and first year
Derek Chen (South Kingstown, R.I./Moses Brown School) won their match at No. 2 doubles, 6-3, and sophomore
Zach Dajani (Singapore/Singapore American School) and junior
Kangyu Li (Shanghai, China/Shanghai Southwest Weiyu) were victorious at No. 3 doubles, 6-4.
In singles, Doi, Flaman, Li, Chen and Annes all won in straight sets at first, second, third, fourth and sixth singles to clinch the victory.
The Scots play another non-conference dual on Saturday, Mar. 7 against Luther in Rochester, Minn. before heading to Hilton Head, S.C. for their Spring Break trip.
